Eamon Dunphy says that Manchester’s United’s Casemiro reminds him of Roy Keane

January 30, 2023 by

FORMER IRELAND INTERNATIONAL EAMON DUNPHY has said that Manchester’s United’s midfield sensation Casemiro reminds him of former United and Ireland captain Roy Keane.

The Brazilian joined the Red Devils from Spanish giants Real Madrid for a fee of £60 million plus £10 million in add-ons in the summer and has transformed the team’s fortunes.

The 30-year-old has become a lynchpin in Erik ten Hag’s side this season, chipping in with goals, passes, and assists.

Last weekend, Casemiro scored two excellent goals against minnows Reading in their 3-1 FA Cup win on Saturday.

Many people believe that Casemiro is United’s best signing in years after a decade of mismanagement and poor buys.

United have not replaced Keane since he left in 2005 and since then have not signed the quality needed to challenge the top boys in the league

Dunphy speaking his column for Buzz.i.e., echoed similar sentiments and claimed that the United star reminded him of Roy Keane and said he was United’s best singing in a decade

‘Not for the first time in a red shirt, he reminded me of Roy Keane,’ said Dunphy in his column

‘Taking the game to opponents, doing what has to be done.’

‘He is also one of the first real leaders United have had in the post-Ferguson era.’

‘Not only is there still a bite to Casemiro’s game, but there is also a calmness and composure.

‘He is the main reason why United have improved significantly this season.”

‘He’s United’s best signing in years and could just spark them into life.’

United will now look ahead to the second leg of the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest.

Ten Hag’s side go into the second leg 3-0 up from the first leg and are expected to progress to this year’s final in Wembley.

The winners of Newcastle and Southampton in the other will play United, barring a massive collapse on Wednesday.

The game kicks off at 8.00pm
