POLICE have issued a witness appeal after a home was set alight in broad daylight in Lisburn. Domestic abuser sentenced for subjecting partner to ‘horrific ordeal’

A MAN has been jailed for subjecting his partner to an ‘horrific ordeal’. Wojciech Lubinski was sentenced at Antrim Crown Court yesterday (March 12). Funeral confirmed for woman found dead in Derry

FUNERAL details have been confirmed for a woman who was found dead in Derry. PSNI detectives are investigating the sudden death of the woman, who was in the Kilrea area on March 9, who has since been named as mother-of-one Jolene McDaid. William Trevor, short story-writer and novelist, was born in Co. Cork. Trevor, who has won the Whitbread Prize three times and has been short-listed five times for the Booker Prize, is considered one of Ireland’s greatest writers. In a rare interview with Irish America magazine in 1992 Trevor said, “I think we Irish are a nation of storytellers. If you study the way we argue, you find we sometimes do so by telling a story. We make points by telling stories. They tell far more stories in the Dail than they do in the British House of Commons. I can never explain why stories are natural in Ireland, but they are, and sometimes it’s better to leave it at that, and just say the are.”
