Maureen O’Boyle
Formerly the host of Fox’s top-rated tabloid news show A Current Affair, Maureen O’Boyle has moved to Telepictures Productions and NBC where she hosts the highly popular news and talk show In Person with Maureen O’Boyle, seen in more than 84 percent of the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and Miami.
In between these two shows, O’Boyle served as weekend anchor and senior news reporter on the nationally syndicated news magazine series EXTRA. In all, she has almost 15 years of national and local television broadcast experience.
O’Boyle’s Irish grandparents were Offaly natives Lawrence Keegan and Mary Kennedy, and her great-grandfather, Jeremiah Collins, came from County Mayo. Her father attributes his bubbly daughter’s “gift of the gab” to these roots. One of ten children, she counts herself “very fortunate to have so many brothers and sisters,” which she reckons is another aspect of being Irish.
O’Boyle’s new show combines the in-depth information featured in a popular newscast and the up-close-and-personal coverage of a prime-time news magazine with the audience interaction of a traditional information/talk show.
“We intend to take a responsible journalistic approach to the topics being covered and the people being profiled on our show,” she said. “Research and experience tell us that people want more information and they want to discuss the problems and issues that they face every day. That’s the kind of show we will give them.”
Maureen lived in several places, including England for a time, before the family settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. She now lives in Manhattan.
