Huge Crowds Attend 1916 Anniversary Parade

Over 100,000 people thronged into Dublin’s O’Connell Street to honor the 90th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. Forrest Reid, Irish novelist and literary critic, was born on this day in Belfast in 1875. To this day, Reid is regarded amongst the likes of J.M. Barrie and Hugh Walpole as a pre-war British boyhood novelist. His most famous work was Young Tom, for which he won a James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1944.
