“I had the pleasure of knowing Ann a good few years ago,” one friend said.

“She was a gentle kind warm and intelligent lady that I will not forget.”

Members of the public have left flowers and tributes on Aungier Street by the spot where homeless woman Ann Delaney used to sleep

Paying tribute, another well-wisher said: “I would see you Ann, every Friday, as I passed you by on the bus.

“You always caught my attention. People would be smiling at you, and you would return with an even brighter smile.

“I often wondered how you had the energy, grace and positivity to do so.

“Your situation was dire, but your true self shone through.”
