Congressman Joseph Crowley:
Fighting for Safety

Joseph Crowley.

Joseph Crowley has been the Representative for the Queens and Bronx-based 7th Congressional District since November 1998. In 2000, he was reelected with 71 percent of the vote. In Washington, the hardworking Crowley serves on the Committee of Financial Services, Committee on International Relations, Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Securities, and the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions. He is also a member of the Homeland Security Task Force.

Since September 11, Crowley has been tireless in pursuit of federal aid and support for New York City. In Congress, he has requested financial aid for New York and has argued that New Yorkers should be consulted about security initiatives because they went through the World Trade Center disaster.

Crowley takes his responsibilities to his constituents so seriously that he held three meetings in the Bronx in November to discuss national security issues. Noting his reasons for calling the meetings, Crowley said, “In addition to being a member of Congress, I am also a husband and father of two small children and a member of this community that is still hurting in the aftermath of September 11. I understand the need for every American to feel safe at work and at home.” Crowley is a cousin of Firefighter Mike Moran (pictured above). He lives with his wife and two children in Elmhurst, New York. ♦
