Diaspora Minister confirms emigrant support programme now open for funding applications

IRELAND’S annual emigrant support programme (ESP) has now opened for funding applications. Diaspora Minister Neale Richmond confirmed the three-week window for applications to be made is open as of today. Ireland commits €3m to fund humanitarian projects in Ukraine

THE Irish Government has committed €3m in funding to support humanitarian projects in Ukraine. Security alert ends in Belfast after controlled explosion carried out on ‘viable device’

A SECURITY alert in Belfast has ended, the police have confirmed. The PSNI received reports that a suspected viable device has been found in the Divis Road areas of west Belfast at 10am yesterday morning (January 14). “Ireland’s Golden Tenor” Frank Patterson was born in Co. Tipperary on this day in 1938. Patterson started singing as a young boy with his local church choir. He moved to Dublin in 1961 to enroll at the National Academy of Theater and studied acting and received vocal training. While studying in Paris, he caught the attention of Philips Recording Company after a radio broadcast. He signed a deal and recorded his first record “My Dear Native Land.” He moved to the U.S. where he achieved the most success, selling out New York’s Carnegie Hall. He also performed for Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.
