FAI votes in favour of motion calling for ‘immediate suspension’ of Israel from European football

IRISH football's governing body has voted overwhelmingly in favour of submitting a motion to UEFA to suspend Israel from European football. Ireland’s unemployment rate at 5% as youth joblessness reaches four-year high

IRELAND'S unemployment rate remained at 5% in October, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), as the number of people out of work edged higher compared with last year. PSNI launch hate crime investigation after Alliance HQ vandalised

POLICE have launched a hate crime investigation after graffiti was sprayed on the Alliance Party’s headquarters in what officers are treating as a sectarian-motivated incident. Thousands of oysters return to Dublin Bay

NEARLY 20,000 native oysters are being reintroduced to Dún Laoghaire Harbour as part of a major restoration effort aimed at reviving the species in Dublin Bay after a 200-year absence. Representatives appointed by Eamon de Valera of the Irish government, who include revolutionary Michael Collins, meet with representatives of the crown on this day in 1921 to sign the Anglo-Irish treaty. This officially marked the end of the Irish War for Independence. Collins, who did not support the agreement, remarked “I have signed by own death warrant.” One year later, however, the Irish Free State would come into being.
