Arrest after man dies following early morning disturbance in Co. Cork

GARDAÍ have made an arrest after a man died following a disturbance in Co. Cork in the early hours of this morning. The incident occurred in Hollyville, Hollyhill, Cork City at around 4.30am. Police treat Co. Tyrone assault as racially-motivated hate crime

POLICE have said they are treating an incident in Co. Tyrone in which a man was verbally abused, assaulted and had his phone taken as a racially-motivated hate crime. Sean MacBride, son of Major John MacBride and Yeats’s muse Maud Gonne, was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize on this day in 1974. He was recognized as a man who “mobilised the conscience of the world in the fight against injustice.” MacBride had served as President of the International Peace Bureau in Geneva, Switzerland and served as President of the Commission of Namibia, United Nations, New York, USA. MacBride would also receive the Lenin Peace Prize in 1975.
