Cars attacked during ‘racially motivated hate crime’ in Belfast

POLICE have appealed for witnessed to come forward after two cars were attacked in what officers are treating as a racially motivated hate crime. A MAN who defrauded a pensioner out of more than £430,000 has been jailed for six-and-a-half years. Terrance McGinley, 44, of Toms Lane, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire told the vulnerable victim that he needed money to help sell a house in Ireland. PSNI arrest man in Scotland on suspicion of drug offences

THE PSNI have today arrested a man in Scotland on suspicion of drug offences. School phone bans in Ireland are not in best interests of children, report finds

A NEW report has found that blanket bans on phones in Irish schools are not in the best interests of children. The ship “Catalpa,” which carried six Irish Fenians who escaped from Australia, docked in the U.S. on this day in 1876. Funded by Clan na Gael and several pardoned Fenians already in the U.S., the “Catalpa” was purchased by the organization and set sail for western Australia where Thomas Darragh, Martin Hogan, Michael Harrington, Thomas Hassett, Robert Cranston and James Wilson were serving a penal colony sentence. The men were rescued from Australia on April 17, 1876 and the ship docked in New York on August 19.
