Investigation launched after human remains found in Co. Cork

GARDAÍ are investigating after human remains were found in Co. Cork. The discovery was made during gardening work at a property in west Cork on Friday. Gardaí say the scene was preserved pending technical examination. The remains, believed to be a human skull, were removed for further examination and DNA analysis. POLICE have reissued a missing person’s appeal as they attempt to track down a man from Mayo who is believed to be in Northern Ireland. Ireland-based Waterford Crystal’s “Star of Hope” cut glass ball was selected by New York City on this day in 1999 to welcome the new millennium for Times Square’s New Year’s Eve. The glass ball had a six foot diameter and was covered with 572 crystal panels, each consisting of five diamond shapes.
