TWO men have been jailed for murdering a man in broad daylight in Co. Down. Malcolm McKeown, 54, was shot dead in Waringstown in August 2019. Chicken cull after suspected bird flu case found on Co. Tyrone farm

THOUSANDS of chickens will be culled on a commerical farm in Co. Tyrone after a suspected case of bird flu was detected. IRELAND'S fishing industry is sounding the alarm after EU fishing advisors proposed major reductions in key fish quotas for 2026. Serious safety warning issued for over 100,000 heating pumps in Irish homes

OVER 114,000 heating system pumps installed across Ireland have been identified as posing a serious electrocution risk to users. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
