Irish among hundreds detained after Israeli navy intercept Gaza aid flotilla

Five sets of skeletal human remains found at Tuam excavation site

FIVE sets of skeletal human remains have been found during the ongoing excavation of the site of a former mother and baby home in Tuam. The remains have been dated to be from the period from 1841 to 1918 when the site in Co. Galway was in use as a workhouse. Ryanair to phase out printed boarding passes

RYANAIR passengers will soon be required to present a digital boarding pass as the airline phases out the use of printed paper passes entirely. According to the airline, more than three quarters  of its 206m annual passengers already use digital boarding passes. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
