Police name motorcyclist who died following collision in County Antrim

A MOTORCYCLIST who died after being involved in a collision in Co. Antrim has been named. Andrew Agnew died in hospital shortly after the incident which happened in Dunloy at around 8.20pm last night (August 26). New legislation makes it a crime to steal pet cats and dogs in Northern Ireland

A NEW law has come into effect which makes it a crime to abduct pet cats and dogs in Northern Ireland. The Pet Abduction Act 2024 carries prison sentences and fines for those convicted of stealing pets from their owners. Witness appeal after pensioner left in serious condition following collision on Irish road

GARDAÍ have appealed for witnesses after a woman was left in a serious condition following a collision in Co. Donegal. Two vehicles were involved in the collision on the N56 in Inver, which occurred at around 9am on Sunday, August 25. Australian explorer Robert O’Hara Burke, born in Co. Galway, died on this day in 1861. Burke, who had migrated to Australia in 1853 after a short military and police career, and was appointed to lead the Victorian Exploring Expedition in 1860. He partnered with William John Wills as surveyor and the party set out with the goal of discovering a south to north route through Australia. Burke was inexperienced in bushcraft, and ultimately the expedition failed with the death of seven members including himself.
