Appeal for witnesses after pensioner dies following collision on quad bike

GARDAÍ have appealed for witnesses after a man died in a quad bike collision. The man, aged in his 80s, was riding the vehicle on the road to Purteen Harbour, off the R319 near Keel, Achill Island, Co. Mayo when the collision happened at around 1.45pm on June 30. Mother and daughter killed in horror collision on Irish road

A MOTHER and daughter who were killed in a horror collision in Co. Mayo have been named. Two men sentenced for car-buying scam where sellers never received payment for vehicles

TWO men have been sentenced for an online car-buying scam which saw them take vehicles from unsuspecting victims without paying for them. Ireland’s Sanctuary Runners will launch first UK group this weekend

A NEW branch of Ireland’s Sanctuary Runners group is set to launch in Brighton this weekend. The Declaration of Independence was famously signed on this day in 1776, marking the end of the American Revolution and forming a free nation. John Hancock’s signature is perhaps the most famous, however there were several Irish born patriots who signed the declaration. George Taylor, Matthew Thornton and James Smith attended as delegates at the Constitutional Convention. Taylor, who was a merchant from Pennsylvania, was originally born in Ireland in 1716. Smith, a lawyer, originally came from Ulster, born there in 1719. Thornton, a physician and militiaman representing New Hampshire, was born in Ireland in 1714.
