A MAN has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail after setting fire to his own house in what police described as a 'reckless and dangerous' act. Man dies and another hospitalised following diving event in Co. Donegal

A MAN has died after taking part in a diving event in Co. Donegal on Saturday. The man, aged in his 40s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after being recovered from the water in the Teelin Bay area. A MAN from Co. Fermanagh has been jailed over his involvement in organised animal fights and other animal welfare offences. Jason Lee Kennedy, 35, from the Bellanaleck area was sentenced for offences including causing unnecessary suffering to animals and causing an animal fight. July 5, 1896

Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
