Tributes paid ahead of funeral for dad who died in alleged Kerry assault

Investigation launched after sectarian attack on teenage boy

POLICE have launched an investigation after a teenage boy was assaulted by a gang on bikes overnight. The boy was targeted as he cycled in the Ormeau Park area of south Belfast yesterday evening (May 29). Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
