Arrest made after man hospitalised following ‘serious’ attack

POLICE investigating a serious assault which left a man in hospital have made an arrest. The victim, aged in his 30s, is believed to have been “struck with a blunt instrument” in the attack, the PSNI have confirmed. He was assaulted in the Montague Atreeet area of Portadown, Co. Funding of €1m confirmed for projects which strengthen links across island of Ireland

A FUNDING allocation of €1million has been announced to support projects which work to strengthen links between the North and southern Ireland. Man pleads guilty to murdering his three younger siblings

Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
