A DONATION from the acclaimed Irish film director Neil Jordan features in a new exhibition now open at Dublin’s Hugh Lane Gallery. Three people treated in hospital for serious injuries following aggravated burglary in Cork

THREE people have been left with serious injuries following an aggravated burglary in Cork. TRIBUTES have been paid to an Irishman who died following a collision in Australia on Monday. Ryan Straney, 27, died in the four-vehicle collision at around 4.40am on the Pacific Motorway near Wahroonga, around 20km north of Sydney. Woman appears in court over death of baby found 26 years ago

A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of a baby found dead in woodland 26 years ago. Joanne Sharkey, 54, of West Derby, Liverpool, appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with murder and the concealment of the birth of a child. Bill Doolin, famous western outlaw of Irish descent, escaped from jail on this day in 1896. Born in Arkansas, Doolin went west and worked several jobs as a cowboy on Oklahoma ranches. He eventually became a member of the Dalton gang, who attempted several robberies. In 1892, Doolin formed his own gang called the Wild Bunch, which became the most infamous outlaw group of the west at that time. Doolin was eventually shot and killed by U.S. Marshal Heck Thomas.
