Actor Emmet Bergin, star of hit Irish drama series Glenroe, passes away

A MURDER investigation is underway after a man died days after being assaulted in Co. Cork. Ian Baitson, 33, is believed to have been attacked with a sword during the incident in Cobh on Friday, March 15. Woman from Co. Armagh jailed after conning employers out of more than £200,000

A WOMAN from Co. Armagh has been jailed after she conned two employers out of more than £200,000. At Craigavon Crown Court on Wednesday, 45-year-old Lisa McGuckin was sentenced to a total of 23 months, half of which is to be served on licence. Ireland’s Crown Jewels are found missing on this day in 1907, just before days before a state visit by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. The theft remains a mystery to this day. Arthur Vicars, Officer of Arms at Dublin Castle, held the jewels in his office and publicly accused his second in command, Francis Shackleton. Shackleton was exonerated and the case was never solved. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle used this historical event as the influence for his Sherlock Holmes story “The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans.”
