Man arrested after Revenue seize more than €2m worth of cigarettes

A MAN has been arrested after Revenue officers seized 2.4m cigarettes with a retail value or more than €2m. The discovery was made in Co. Wexford on Tuesday as part of a joint intelligence-led operation conducted by Revenue's Customs Service and An Garda Síochána. Man found with flares at football stadium banned from matches for three years

On this day in 1816, Dublin born playwright and politician Richard Brinsley Sheridan died in London. Sheridan was a member of the British House of Commons and is best remembered for his plays “A Trip to Scarborough,” “The Rivals,” and “The School for Scandal.” He was very well respected by his contemporaries and is buried at the Poet’s Corner at Westminster Abbey.
