Hollywood star Fionnuala Flanagan receives handprint honour in Ireland

IRISH actor Fionnuala Flanagan has been honoured at a handprint ceremony in Dublin. The Dubliner was immortalised at the city’s Gaiety Theatre, where her handprints were cast in bronze during a ceremony held yesterday. Government announces €9m funding pot to restore historic buildings across Ireland

GRANTS worth €9m have been earmarked by the Irish Government to support the renovation and restoration of some of the country’s most historic buildings. Stolen diamonds, paintings and a high-end sports vehicle seized in raid on property

TWO people have been arrested following a police raid on a property in Co. Down. PSNI officers found a significant quantity of Class A drugs, cash and a firearm during the raid on the premises in the Killaire Road area of Bangor yesterday morning. On this day in 1816, Dublin born playwright and politician Richard Brinsley Sheridan died in London. Sheridan was a member of the British House of Commons and is best remembered for his plays “A Trip to Scarborough,” “The Rivals,” and “The School for Scandal.” He was very well respected by his contemporaries and is buried at the Poet’s Corner at Westminster Abbey.
