Man dies and woman seriously injured in Co. Leitrim collision

A MAN has died and a woman left seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Co. Leitrim. The single-vehicle collision occurred at around 7am on Thursday in Derryherk on a local road between Kinlough and Garrison. Birmingham bombings 50th anniversary marked with poignant ceremony

THE Birmingham pub bombings occurred fifty years ago on November 21, 1974, when bombs exploded in two public houses in central Birmingham — the Tavern in the Town and the Mulberry Bush. The ban restricting Catholics from attending Trinity College Dublin is finally lifted on this day in 1970. Through the help of the then Archbishop of Dublin John McQuaid, the Roman Catholic church removes its policy of disapproval or even excommunication for Catholics who enrolled at Trinity College without the proper permission. Authorities at the school also allow for a Catholic chaplain to be based at the college.
