Appeal for witnesses after child assaulted at bus stop

GARDAÍ are investigating an alleged assault of a child at a bus stop in Dublin. A child is reported to have been assaulted by a man while waiting at the bus stop in Ballymun on the evening of Friday, December 27. The incident is reported to have happened at around 9.45pm. Concern grows for man, 65, missing from Dublin

GARDAÍ are seeking the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of man missing from Dublin. Patrick Tiernan, 65, is reported missing from his home in Clonsilla, Dublin 15. ‘Tragic incident’: Woman dies in house fire in Dublin

A WOMAN has died in a house fire in Dublin in what gardaí have described as a 'tragic incident'. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the fire at a house in Hunters Lane, Ballycullen, Dublin 24, shortly after 10pm on Monday. On this day St. Columcille, or St. Colomba, died. His feast day of June 9 is recognized by the Catholic Church. Born in Co. Donegal to a royal family, Columcille gave up his claims in favor of becoming a monk at Glasnevin. He became one of the “Twelve Apostles of Ireland” who studied under St. Finnian. After a dispute with St. Finnian over copying the Battle Book of the O’Donnells, the battle of Cooldrevny was sparked. Columcille felt responsible for the lives lost, and in his penance, he left Ireland. He travelled to Scotland and established a monastery on Iona, which would become the center of learning for the Celtic Christian region. It is believed that the Book of Kells was started at Iona.
