Tributes paid after former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan dies, aged 76

TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan at the age of 76. The Dublin-born businessman revealed in December 2024 that he had been diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer which had spread to his spine and pelvis. Public appeal to find driver who stopped at scene of fatal collision in Galway

GARDAÍ have issued a renewed appeal for information regarding a fatal collision in Co. Galway. A man, aged in his 20s, died after the car he was driving was involved in a three-car collision on the R336 in Barna on March 9. Five men sentenced for brutal murder of ‘beloved husband and father’ Ian Ogle

FIVE men have been sentenced for the murder of a “beloved husband and father” in Belfast. Ian Ogle was brutally attacked by a gang in east Belfast at around 9.20pm on January 27, 2019. Cocaine worth €10.6m found hidden in heavy goods lorry

COCAINE worth an estimated €10.6m was found hidden in a heavy goods lorry. Gardaí from the National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Waterford Drug and Crime Units seized the drugs while carrying out a series of operations this week. Frank Patterson, known as “Ireland’s Golden Tenor”, died on this day in 2000 at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Born in Co. Tipperary in 1938, Patterson started singing as a young boy with his local church choir. He moved to Dublin in 1961 to enroll at the National Academy of Theater and studied acting and received vocal training. While studying in Paris, he caught the attention of Philips Recording Company after a radio broadcast. He signed a deal with the company and recorded his first record “My Dear Native Land.” He moved to the U.S. where he achieved the most success, selling out New York’s Carnegie Hall. He performed for Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.
