Plan for review of handling of Katie Simpson murder revealed

THE terms of reference for an independent review into the handling of the murder of Katie Simpson have been released. Ms Simpson, a 21-year-old showjumper from Tynan in Co. Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan deported from Israel

‘Heartbroken’ family pay tribute after young man dies in quad bike accident

THE family of a young man killed in a collision in Co. Westmeath have paid tribute to him. Dean Wearen, of Kells in Co. Meath, died following the collision in Finea over the weekend. Public warning issued after £100k lost to holiday scammers

A PUBLIC warning has been issued to anyone planning to book a holiday online. The PSNI has urged people to be wary and vigilant when planning their trips as more than £100k has been lost in Northern Ireland to travel scammers over the past year. William Butler Yeats, Ireland’s most famous poet and one of the leading literary figures of the 20th century, was born in Sandyhurst, Co. Dublin on this day in 1865 to an upper class Protestant family. He spent much of his childhood in Co. Sligo, which heavily influenced Yeats’s natural themes, and he read classics like Shakespeare, Donne, Alighieri and Shelley. With Lady Gregory, he helped establish the Gaelic Literary Revival and founded the Abbey Theater in Dublin. He was the first Irishman awarded the Nobel Prize in 1923, followed by Shaw, Beckett and Heaney.
