Galway and Wexford GAA report record spending and surpluses for 2024

Wexford GAA and Galway GAA have both reported strong financial results for 2024. Galway set a new inter-county record with €2.7 million in team spending, slightly higher than 2023’s €2.65 million. GARDAÍ seized illegal drugs worth more than €105k during a raid on a house in Co. Cork. Officer attached to the Togher Drugs unit in County Cork discovered €105,700 worth of drugs during a raid on a home in Carrigaline on December 3. The ban restricting Catholics from attending Trinity College Dublin is finally lifted on this day in 1970. Through the help of the then Archbishop of Dublin John McQuaid, the Roman Catholic church removes its policy of disapproval or even excommunication for Catholics who enrolled at Trinity College without the proper permission. Authorities at the school also allow for a Catholic chaplain to be based at the college.
