Passengers face higher airfares to return home to Ireland for Christmas, Ryanair warns

Taoiseach confirms attendance at Stardust commemoration event later this month

TAOISEACH Simon Harris has confirmed that an event to commemorate the lives lost in the Stardust nightclub tragedy will be held this month. Some 48 people died when a fire broke out at the nightclub in Artane, Dublin in the early hours of February 14, 1981. On this day in 1816, Dublin born playwright and politician Richard Brinsley Sheridan died in London. Sheridan was a member of the British House of Commons and is best remembered for his plays “A Trip to Scarborough,” “The Rivals,” and “The School for Scandal.” He was very well respected by his contemporaries and is buried at the Poet’s Corner at Westminster Abbey.
