Sinn Féin Endorses PSNI

Sinn Féin voted to support the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) – formerly the RUC – at an extraordinary Ard Fheis (party congress) attended by nearly 1,000 delegates in Dublin. Clan Na Gael, the American counterpart to Ireland’s revolutionary Irish Republican Brotherhood, was founded on this day in 1867. John Devoy, Daniel Cohalan and Joseph McGarrity help form the brotherhood in New York, with the purpose of securing an independent Ireland.
