Bill Byrne is the Interim Chief Customer Officer for Aer Lingus in the U.S. He oversees Marketing, Sales, E-Commerce, Distribution and Customer Experience across Ireland, North America, U.K. and Europe and is central to helping Aer Lingus realize its vision to be the heart of travel, through and beyond Ireland for generations to come. Byrne played a critical role in Aer Lingus throughout the pandemic, and his leadership is invaluable as it moves forward in recovery. Prior to this interim role he was Senior Vice President of Global Sales. Before joining Aer Lingus, Byrne was the VP of Inbound Sales for Hertz. Byrne also enjoyed a 30-year career at United Airlines lastly as Managing Director of Specialty Sales. Among his roles at United he was responsible for Global Sales transformation, Central Division Regional Sales, and Country Director for France as well as Managing Director of Organizational Development. Byrne received a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago and a Masters and Ph.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Chicago born Byrne holds U.S. and Irish citizenship. He is married and the father of four children and his Mayo-born mother is thrilled with this well-deserved recognition.
