Christopher Toomey

Chris Toomey is a Managing Director, Private Wealth Management, Private Wealth Advisor, and Alternative Investments Director at Morgan Stanley, where he currently advises on more than $3 billion in the team’s clients’ assets. He began his financial career as a banking associate at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, then moved to Lehman Brothers in 1998. While there, he held various positions, including building out Lehman’s third-party, long-only manager platform, before moving to Morgan Stanley in 2008.
Chris has spoken at several conferences about alternative investments, including SALT, HedgeWorld, and the Investment Management Institute. He has also appeared on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street. He was recently named to the Financial Times Top 400 Advisors List.
Born in Washington, D.C., Chris is a 1997 graduate of Hamilton College, with a B.A. in English and a minor in Economics. At Hamilton, he played squash and lacrosse and served as class president, and he met his wife, Anna, who is now a producer for “Good Morning America.” Chris and Anna are parents of two children.
Chris comes from a proud Irish family dating back to when his great-grandfather, Michael Twomey, emigrated to the US in the 1880s from County Cork. The Twomeys primarily settled across the New York and New England region, giving Chris his entrepreneurial spirit. His grandfather, John Toomey (formerly Twomey), founded the historic Toomey’s Diner, next to Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.
Chris stays in touch with his roots and works with several successful Venture Capitalists and Entrepreneurs in Ireland.
