Edel Howlin is a communications strategist and former public media journalist whose career bridges Ireland and the United States. Beginning in Irish radio, she honed a love of storytelling and community voices. In Houston, she helped launch the public affairs show Houston Matters at Houston Public Media, earning a reputation for journalism that reflects and serves its audience. Today, through her firm, Untapped Communications, she guides mission-driven and women-led organizations in amplifying their stories, building visibility, and navigating the modern media landscape. 

Active in Irish and Irish American circles, she champions the stories of the diaspora and the role media plays in keeping us connected. Whether producing, pitching, or training, Edel centers authenticity, clarity, and connection, values rooted in her Irish heritage. She remains proud of carrying Ireland’s curiosity, wit, and sense of community into every project she leads on both sides of the Atlantic.
