Edward Kennedy

Senator

One of the most tireless and hardworking politicians on Capitol Hill when it comes to Irish issues, the Democratic Senator from Massachusetts is one of Ireland’s best friends in Washington.

From the thorny matter of immigration reform to the burgeoning peace process in Northern Ireland, Senator Kennedy’s touch has been obvious. Together with his sister, U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Jean Kennedy Smith, he was instrumental in abolishing the visa requirement for Irish citizens traveling to the US.

Ever mindful of his rich Irish heritage, the Senator is also deeply committed to the International Fund for Ireland, which allocates monies to various disadvantaged communities in the North. A firm advocate of political dialogue and negotiation, Senator Kennedy will always be invaluable to the Irish.
