Ger Brophy
ElevateBio
Ger is the CEO of ElevateBio, a Cell and Gene Therapy Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization. He is also the Chair of the Avantor Scientific Advisory Board. In addition, he co-chairs The Watershed Institute – a non-profit NJ environmental charity.
Ger has over thirty years’ experience in the global life sciences and biotechnology industry. Previously, he led the BioPharma Production business for Avantor, joining in 2018 and was a member of the leadership group that took Avantor public in a $3B+ IPO.
Before that, he led the Cell Therapy business and was CTO for GE Healthcare Life Sciences (now Cytiva), with responsibilities for the technology and R&D strategy of the business.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and has held a number of directorship positions. He has had international assignments in the UK and Sweden.
He and his wife, Mary live in Princeton, NJ. Their son, Hugh, has just started his law career in New York.
Ger was born in Kilkenny, Ireland and holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Dublin City University. The Brophy family enjoy their apartment on the Howth Peninsula in Dublin and vacation every year on the Dingle Peninsula in Kerry.
