Prior to joining Rockefeller, James spent 16 years with Merrill Lynch where he held leadership positions in Capital Markets. Before joining Merrill Lynch in 2004, James started his career in finance at Scudder Investments serving in both Origination and Distribution roles after concluding a professional ice hockey career in Europe and the U.S.

An active advocate for children and families in the pediatric cancer community, James serves as a Trustee and Advisory Director on the board of The Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation. James’ mother, Nuala (Horgan), was born in Kenmare, Co Kerry in 1941, arriving in NY October of 1960 and his father’s (John “Jack” Beale) parents were from Cork and Tipperary before meeting in Brooklyn, NY in the late 1920s. Along with a quick wit, of course.
