John F. Crowley

John Crowley is president and CEO of Amicus since January 2005.  Before Amicus he was founding president and CEO of Orexigen Therapeutics. Prior to that, John was senior vice president at Genzyme Therapeutics, a position he assumed after overseeing the sale of Novazyme Pharmaceuticals to Genzyme in September 2001. John was the founding president and CEO of Novazyme that was developing a novel treatment for Pompe disease.

John serves as president of the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Association, and is also on the Research Advisory Board of the national Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Board of Directors of St. Peter’s University Hospital. John’s involvement with biotechnology came from the 1998 diagnosis of two of his children with Pompe disease – a fatal neuromuscular disorder. He and his family have appeared on The Today Show, The Paula Zahn Show and graced the cover of The Wall Street Journal.

John has a B.S. in Foreign Service, a J.D. from Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.  A first-generation Irish-American with Cork roots, he is married with three children.
