Joseph R. Nolan, Jr.

Eversource Energy

Joseph R. Nolan, Jr. is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Eversource Energy, New England’s largest utility. Eversource serves approximately 4.4 million electric, natural gas, and water customers across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

Joe joined Eversource in 1985 and served in various senior customer service, government affairs, and business strategy positions before becoming Chairman & CEO.  Throughout his career, he was instrumental in obtaining support for company policies and positions from state and federal government and oversaw Eversource’s innovative strategic investments in offshore wind, battery storage, electric vehicles, smart grid modernization, and other transformational initiatives.

Joe also serves on the Chairman’s Council of Boston Children’s Hospital, the boards of directors of the Edison Electric Institute, the New England Council, the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, the Camp Harbor View Foundation, Needham Bank, and the Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation. 

Joe holds both a BA and an MBA from Boston College.  Joe was the recipient of the 2021 Boston Irish Honors Award, and he maintains a dual citizenship with Ireland as his grandparents hailed from Rassaraun, County Mayo. He and his wife Therese are the proud parents of their four daughters, Olivia, Hannah, Isabelle, and Claudia, who enjoy their family visits to Ireland together.
