Samantha Bee

Considering her winning and wild sense of humor, we’ve had a hunch that this Daily Show with Jon Stewart correspondent had Irish roots. A recent interview with The New York Times Magazine confirmed these suspicions, when Samantha Bee referenced a favorite old family heirloom: a wooden spoon from Ireland. “[It] goes back so many generations it goes back to Ireland. I still use it,” she said.

Bee grew up in Toronto, Ontario, where she was one of the founding members of The Atomic Fireballs, a sketch-comedy group. She was hired by The Daily Show in 2003 as a correspondent and has since done memorable coverage of the Republican National Convention, a popular recurring segment called “So You Want to Bee A…,” and many other bitingly side-splitting stories.

In 2001, Bee married fellow Daily Show correspondent, Canadian, and comedian Jason Jones. Together they have three children, and make their home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Bee’s first book, I Know I Am, But What Are You?, was published in 2010. She and Jones are currently at work on a sitcom about a celebrity chef.
