Shane Clifford is a Managing Director–Partner and Head of Global Wealth at Carlyle, based in New York, and is a member of Carlyle’s Leadership Committee. He has over 20 years of industry experience leading business development and strategy for large alternative assets and financial services firms.

Before joining Carlyle, Shane was a Senior Managing Director at Franklin Templeton, responsible for the global growth strategy and business development of their suite of alternative offerings.

Previously, Shane held several senior leadership and business development positions at Legg Mason subsidiaries, including Global Head of Corporate Strategy at EnTrustPermal and Global Head of Business Development at Permal Group.

Shane began his career at Merrill Lynch before working for BlackRock in the US, UK, Middle East, and Latin America. He is a graduate of the University of Limerick, Ireland, and holds an MBA from Boston University Graduate School of Management.

A  proud Limerick man who moved to the US in 1998, Shane loves getting home as often as possible. His Limerick origins have kept him grounded and instilled in him a professional drive to succeed. Shane resides in Ridgewood, New Jersey, with his wife, Tricia, and three children, Liam, Owen, and Sean.
