
Susan Brophy
Presidential Assistant
As Deputy Assistant to President Clinton and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs where she serves as a lobbyist for the President on Capitol Hill, Susan Brophy has been involved in Irish issues since joining the White House staff in 1933.
A graduate of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Brophy served as the Director of Congressional Relations in President-elect Clinton’s transitional office. And during the presidential campaign, Brophy directed the office of Clinton-Gore in Washington, and worked on the delegate selection process.
Brophy has been involved in state and national politics for more than 20 years, and served as Chief of Staff to Colorado Senator Tim Wirth.
A long-time Democrat, Brophy was National Political Coordinator for the Dukakis/Bentsen campaign, and served as policy director of the Democratic National Committee from 1985 until 1987.
A native of Massachusetts, Brophy worked as Executive Director of the Women in Construction Project, a pre-apprenticeship program for women, and then for the International Union of Bricklayers.
