Terrence Purcell
Terry Purcell is Co-Chief Investment Officer of the multi-family investment office Longwall Investment Partners. He has three decades of direct investment, allocation, and consulting experience in both alternative and traditional investments, spanning the private and public sectors. He oversees investments across all asset classes for the firm’s client families.
Terry was previously head of Portfolio Management and a member of the Global Investment Committee of Permal Group, a $20 billion fund-of-funds firm. He was the head of the firm’s Customized Fund Solutions and Investment Strategy groups, oversaw bespoke hedge fund portfolios, and was Co-Portfolio Manager of the Permal Absolute Return Fund.
Before Permal, Terry served as the Principal Investment Officer of the Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds. He directed the $60 billion pension fund’s investments in hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, private credit, real assets, and opportunistic investments.
He earned a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
A second-generation Irish American with deep roots in Kilkenny and Strabane, Terry was born in Philadelphia. He lives in Westport, Connecticut, with his wife, Kristin, and his daughters Adelia and Kerrianne.
