Timothy J. Hughes

Douglass Winthrop Advisors

Tim is a principal at Douglass Winthrop Advisors, LLC. He serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel. Tim has over 25 years of financial services experience including numerous leadership roles at asset management firms. Prior to joining Douglass Winthrop, Tim was the CFO and Chief Compliance Officer for 484Wall Capital Management, LLC and Head of Investment Operations at Amherst Capital Management, LLC both subsidiaries of The Bank of New York Mellon. He began his career at Citibank, NA where he structured and originated complex derivative transactions.

Tim earned a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Bowdoin College. He received his JD and MBA degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is admitted to practice law in New York and Massachusetts. He has earned the designation of Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.

A second-generation Irish American, Tim’s roots tie him to County Mayo.  He is on the Board of the O’Dwyer Foundation of Bohola, Mayo whose mission is to provide life-long care to persons with physical challenges and be a source of employment for the west of Ireland.  Closer to home, Tim is on the Board of Advisors to the New Covenant Center in Stamford, Connecticut.  The New Covenant Center is Fairfield County’s largest soup kitchen and food pantry whose mission is to help the needy and most vulnerable of all faiths to permanently improve their lives through supportive services that enable families to rise out of poverty and achieve self-sufficiency.  Tim resides in Darien, Connecticut with his wife and three sons.
