Thomas P. Butler is President of Butler Associates, LLC, a New York based integrated communications and strategic earned media firm. Recognized as an expert in strategy and message development, legal, crisis and earned media communications. Tom has worked on behalf of hundreds of clients involved in matters ranging from complex trials and litigation; Fortune 50 shareowner proxy fights; corporate, business, community, and public affairs campaigns; and the introduction of new products, brands, and concepts, all while establishing an extraordinary reputation with the media.

For over 35 years, Tom has been a leading strategist and adviser to significant corporations, educational institutions, non-profits, trade associations, their boards and CEO’s. For three decades, he led communications for both the Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA) and Uniformed EMT, Paramedics & Fire Inspectors of the FDNY, including in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Tom and Butler Associates have continuously been recognized for their ability to provide impactful results for their clients. He is a recipient of the IAFF Award for the Best PR or political messaging campaign in the U.S. and Canada for his work with the FDNY’s UFA. Tom has been named several times to Crain’s New York Business’s Notable Leaders in Advertising, Marketing & PR and City & State’s Public Relations Power 50.

Tom serves as a director and key adviser to several major national business and philanthropic institutions, including as a proud member of the Board of Directors for the Knights of St. Patrick of New York City. He is a resident of Stamford, CT and with his wife Lisa, have raised three wonderful children. His grandparents came to America from Counties Tipperary, Meath and Cork.
