Man dies and five people injured in two separate collisions in Tipperary

A PENSIONER has died following a collision in Co. Tipperary. The driver, who was aged in his 70s, was seriously injured in the single vehicle collision on the R660 at Holycross at around 2.15pm on February 7. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Forrest Reid, Irish novelist and literary critic, was born on this day in Belfast in 1875. To this day, Reid is regarded amongst the likes of J.M. Barrie and Hugh Walpole as a pre-war British boyhood novelist. His most famous work was Young Tom, for which he won a James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1944.
