POLITICIANS have condemned an attack on the Belfast Islamic Centre, in which a viable device was thrown into the building, with Secretary of State Hilary Benn branding it 'shameful'. Community in shock after woman dies in house fire in Co. Armagh

A WOMAN aged in her 50s has died following a house fire in Co. Armagh. Police received a report of a fire in the Bearna Park area of Meigh, near Killeavy in Newry, at around 8.40am on Saturday. Man dies after being struck by tractor in Co. Clare

A MAN has died after being struck by a tractor in Co. Clare. The incident occurred on the L7006 at Kilmurry, Sixmilebridge at around 10.15am on Saturday. IRELAND is the second most costly country in the EU for everyday goods and services, according to new figures from Eurostat. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
