A MAN who was seriously injured in a collision in Co. Monaghan earlier this month has died in hospital. The 47-year-old pedestrian was struck by an SUV at around 1am on Broad Road on September 6. Co. Cork man charged with historic rape of teenage girl in London

A MAN from Co. Cork has been charged with the historic rape of a teenage girl in London. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has also authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Barry George, 65, with two counts of sexual assault. Three arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after Newry cash withdrawal attempt

THREE people have been arrested on suspicion of numerous offences, including kidnapping, after an attempt to withdraw a large amount of cash from a building society in Newry. Legendary actor and Oscar winner Gregory Peck died on this day in 2003. Peck, who’s grandmother Catherine Ashe came from Dingle, studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and debuted in his first Broadway show The Morning Star after graduation. His role in The Keys of the Kingdom in 1944 won him an Academy Award nomination. He became well known for his rugged screen presence and was often cast as the hero, especially in westerns. He starred opposite Audrey Hepburn in her first film Roman Holiday. Peck finally won the Oscar for his role as Atticus Finch in 1962’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
