Internal HSE audit finds payroll overpayments of €14.6m

FOLLOWING the implementation of an internal audit, the Irish Health Service Executive has discovered that it allocated over €14.6m in payroll overpayments at the end of 2023. Prior to that, the HSE wrote off €909,500 for the years 2023 and 2022. Minister claims new kitchen and café for inmates is ‘essential investment for prison community’

Asking prices for homes in Ireland up by 3.7%

A HOUSE PRICE report from Daft.ie has revealed that asking prices for houses and flats across Ireland has risen on average by 3.7% during the first quarter of 2025. Figures propose that a typical listing taken within the first three months of the year amounted to €346,048, 11.6% higher than the same period last year and 35% higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2020. American President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle landed in Ireland on the first day of a six-day European tour. He met with Taoiseach Enda Kenny and then President Mary McAleese, before visiting relatives in the village of Moneygall, Co. Offaly, form where his great-great-great grandfather Folmouth Kearney left in 1850 at the age of 19. He drank a pint of Guinness, as did his wife, in Ollie Hayes pub. Obama also gave a speech in College Green, Dublin to a crowd of 25,000, and planted a tree in Phoenix Park.
