Women and children hospitalised after being rescued from house fire

TWO women and two children are in hospital after being rescued from a fire at their home in Co. Tyrone last night. €1.5m funding announced to support Irish arts across the globe

A FUNDING injection of €1.5m has been announced to promote Irish arts and culture across the globe this year. The 50th anniversary of Fleadh Nua took place in Ennis, Co. Clare, drawing thousands of traditional music fans from around the world. Fleadh Nua, which promotes Irish traditional music and culture, is one of many festivals that take place in Ireland during the summer, but it is credited with being the premier event of its kind. The Fleadh began in Dublin in 1970, where it was held in Croke Park, but it has been held annually in May in Ennis since 1974. The ever-growing event now takes place over 9 days and features concerts, singing, dancing and other performances.
