POLICE have arrested four men following a report of a serious assault in North Belfast on Saturday evening. At around 5.50pm, it was reported that a fight was ongoing at a flat in the Cliftonville Road area, with weapons possibly used in the assault. A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of father-of-two Michael O'Dwyer in Norfolk. A MAN has been arrested after police seized thousands of pounds worth of suspected drugs, cash and imitation firearms during a search of a property in Belfast. June 4, 1820

On June 4, 1820, Henry Grattan, outstanding orator and dominant figure in the Irish parliament, died. Grattan entered the Irish Parliament in December 1775. He was the leader of the Patriot movement that won legislative independence for Ireland in 1782. Later he headed opposition to the union of England and Ireland. Grattan spent the last 15 years of his life on the British House of Commons after being elected in 1805.
