A MAN suspected of stealing £85,000 from a casino in Nottingham, England was arrested in Belfast while trying to board a plane to Turkey. Man arrested following drug seizure in Co. Dublin

A MAN has been arrested following the discovery of approximately €220,000 of herbal cannabis in Co. Dublin. Around 11kg of the drug were seized in the Lucan area during a joint intelligence-led operation on Thursday. GARDAÍ have appealed for information after a man was injured in a shooting in Co. Wicklow. The incident reportedly occurred at around 10pm on Tuesday at Ballinahinch, Roundwood. GARDAÍ have appealed for information in relation to the death of Dublin man 10 years ago. Mark Burke, who was originally from Sandyford in South Dublin, was last seen on Monday, July 28, 2014 on Corrig Avenue in Dun Laoghaire. June 4, 1820

On June 4, 1820, Henry Grattan, outstanding orator and dominant figure in the Irish parliament, died. Grattan entered the Irish Parliament in December 1775. He was the leader of the Patriot movement that won legislative independence for Ireland in 1782. Later he headed opposition to the union of England and Ireland. Grattan spent the last 15 years of his life on the British House of Commons after being elected in 1805.
